EIA for Sorting Centre and Transfer Station in Jordan

EPTA, as a member of a consortium, provided consultancy services to the UNDP for the implementation of the ESIA Scoping & full ESIA Study for the development of a sorting centre and a transfer station in in Northern Shouneh/Ghour in Jordan.

The project included the following components:

  • Rehabilitation of a MSW transfer station, which will reduce the cost of waste collection and transportation by 20%.
  • Establishment of a final sorting center to be operated by vulnerable women of the Northern Region.

The project also focused on local female involvement through the generation of women’s employment opportunities, within the different communities of the 3 designated municipalities – Tabaqet Fahel, Mo’ath Bin Jabal and Sharhabeel Bin Hasna.
